The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
