The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
