New Particulars Emerge Concerning the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains

Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence home on Sunday.

A Discovery

According to a report citing a person close to the family, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

After gaining access to the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained without bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.

Additionally pushed back against widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement includes descriptions of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.

Investigation Timeline

According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
