Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
