Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
