Beloved Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
American performer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved programs like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per news outlets.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a message.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on several well-known programs, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised countless students throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
